Michael Johnson OD

Dr. Johnson is a progressive Optometrist with a strong interest in the latest technology and treatment regimes. He has worked closely with ocular specialists throughout his career in order to obtain an expanded knowledge of the eye field.

He began his career practicing primary eyecare in a group practice with both a Retinal Specialist, as well as a Glaucoma Specialist. He later became the head Optometrist at a multi-specialty clinic here in Sacramento. In addition to treating eye conditions he worked hand in hand with primary care physicians and specialist in treating the whole patient.

Dr. Johnson graduated from UC Berkeley 1993 and was awarded two scholarships for his research in progressive lens design. While attending school, he also worked concurrently in research and development for one of the top equipment manufacturers in the eye care industry.

Dr. Johnson currently enjoys private practice with a patient base of all ages. He enjoys working with patents age 3 to 103. He offers contact lens services from basic soft lenses to the most advanced rigid gas permeable lenses available. In addition to quality eyecare, Dr. Johnson offers his patients a wide variety of glasses and contacts. He stocks over 1000 frames and many of today's most popular contact lenses.

Additionally, Dr. Johnson offers services that include the treatment of patients with advanced vision loss. His practice offers many services to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from the devastating effects of Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma.

In his spare time Dr. Johnson enjoys woodworking, mountain bike riding, water and snow skiing. He has traveled extensively all over the world.
